Asian Food Delights in Singapore Expo, August 28. Visit Hall 6A of the Singapore Expo (just a couple of MRT stops away from Changi Airport) to see Singapore's biggest gourmet event - Asian Food Delights showcases the widest spread of Asian dishes in the region, offered by more than a hundred exhibitors in perhaps the most food-mad city in Southeast Asia. Cambodia launches new national carrier. Eight years after the last national carrier folded, Cambodia launches its new flag carrier - Angkor Air. The airline is a joint venture between the Cambodian and Vietnamese governments, and will focus first on tourist hubs Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. (Sydney Morning Herald)
Malaysia Airlines's new regional pass allows flight on the cheap. Sharp discounts are here for Malaysia Airlines passengers flying on their new regional pass. Pass holders get four prepaid one-way economy tickets for $229 ($729 for business class).
Tickets are valid for three months for departures from Kuala Lumpur to a destination within Southeast Asia. 2,500 new passengers each month are expected to fly with Malaysia Airlines under the scheme.
As Malaysian Airlines Managing Director Idris Jala puts it, "It's a massive discount (on fares). Kuala Lumpur will be the base and hub, so it will bring a lot of tourists to Malaysia." (Brisbane Times)
