With the Formula One Grand Prix coming upon Singapore yet again, Marina Bay Sands (compare rates|buy direct) is also jumping headfirst into the race madness with a series of events lasting the whole F1 season from September 1 to 24.

From September 1, Marina Bay Sands guests who spend at least SGD 100 on the property may join in a "Spend and Win promotion" covering three weekly draws leading up to the Formula One weekend, with over SGD S$110,000 in prizes at stake.

Prizes include special VIP Sands SkyPark night race party packages, hospitality passes to the Ferrari Challenge Singapore Gala Dinner at Gardens by the Bay, Ferrari merchandise, all-access passes to the Art Science Museum at Marina Bay Sands, shopping vouchers, and tickets to watch the upcoming hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys at the Marina Bay Sands theaters. The grand prize consists of a trip for two to Milan to visit the distinguished Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy.

(To accommodate F1 celebrations, sections of the Sands SkyPark will be closed to the public from 3pm on both September22 & 23.)

On September 5, Marina Bay Sands partners with Ital Auto (the official Ferrari importer in Singapore) to ignite a series of Formula One-themed activities in the property, beginning with an exhibition at The Shoppes, chronicling the storied past and present of the Ferrari marque and its famous cars.

On September 18, Ital Auto's Ferrari-flavored activities reach a climax with the unveiling of the highly anticipated Ferrari F12berlinetta at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. The F12berlinetta is the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever built, and it makes its Southeast Asia debut on this day.

The Marina Bay Sands' numerous celebrity restaurants will also be making their presence felt through a number of Formula One-inspired menus, mainly available during the Formula One Weekend beginning around September 21.

  • Pizzeria Mozza will present its F1 Picnic Box for takeaway diners who want a quality meal while watching F1 outdoors. SGD 80++ (good for two). For reservations, call +65 6688 8522.
  • db Bistro Moderne introduces Daniel Boulud's F1 specials as part of its pre-race menu from September 21 to 23. These specials include seasonal highlights such as the Norwegian Scallop "Black Tie", Roasted Brittany Turbot and Shiga Prefecture A3 Beef Tenderloin. SGD 58++; for two-course, SGD 68++ for three-course. For reservations, call +65 6688 8525.
  • The Sky on 57 offers the best view among the restaurants in the Sands (being on the SkyPark, after all - deck pictured above); guests will enjoy a special, six-course set menu. Chef Justin Quek's creation serves up specials like the Poached French Oysters with Spanish Ham, Wok-fried Maine lobster with Grilled M7 Wagyu beef and his signature Foie Gras Xiao Long Bao. Sky on 57 dinner set menu will set you back SGD 200++ (group of eight pax and above); a West Terrace outdoor package cost SGD 988++ (perfect for a group of five).   • SweetSpot's Chef Ryan Witcher, Executive Pastry Chef at Marina Bay Sands, will serve a number of F1-inspired treats: The Formula 1, a gold dusted almond macaroon with black sesame ganache; the Pole Position, a milk chocolate-pandan praline; and the Marina Bay Street Circuit dessert, a mango-hazelnut mousse cake with hazelnut daquoise and citrus-praline ganache. All available at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel Tower 3 lobby from September 20 to 23.

DJ Kenny L, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Marina Bay Sands' clubs will also be hopping throughout the F1 celebration. From September 20 to 22, the super-club Avalon set in Marina Bay Sands' crystal pavilion starts the F1 weekend with AVALON GO!, a dance extravaganza featuring A-list deejays.

On September 21 and 22, club lounge KU DÉ TA invites one of Australia's top deejays, DJ Kenny L. (pictured above), to man the DJ booth at the club lounge. KU DÉ TA's restaurant and club lounge will both be streaming the race live on numerous screens. Race weekend set menus are available from SGD 288++ in the Restaurant, while cover charge to the Club Lounge starts from SGD 100 and includes a glass of champagne.
