Singapore's Marina Bay Sands (compare rates|buy direct) is heating up the "Christmas in the Tropics" action with Christmas events and specials that combine premium shopping, tasty deluxe dining, and mind-blowing art and entertainment. Visit and watch your heart grow three sizes that day.

Throughout the Sands' official Christmas season, shoppers can get a chance to win a dream wardrobe worth S$10,000 every week through the  Swing into Christmas at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands campaign. Up to S$60,000 worth of shopping vouchers will be given away over six weeks to six lucky shoppers who spend a minimum of S$250 at The Shoppes. The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands mall is extending shopping hours for the whole Christmas season, following the lead of malls all over Singapore. The Shoppes' Christmas-season late-night shopping hours last till 11pm from Sundays to Thursdays, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Over 130 boutiques and restaurants at the Shoppes are offering savings of up to 70 percent on their wares, including (but not limited to) 70 percent off at 7 for All Mankind and Affliction; up to 55 percent off at Voi Jewellery; up to 50 percent off at Anne Fontaine, French Connection, N.Tyler and Oroton; and up to 30 percent off Frey Wille's exclusive Christmas pieces.

Sweet treats from Sweetspot, Au Chocolat and High Society. Sweetspot sells Christmas hampers packed with macaroons, chocolate, hot chocolate mix, chocolate-covered nuts, handmade chocolate-nut jam, and a bottle of Champagne. The menu also provides a choice of two log cake flavors: a Chocolate Paradigm Log Cake with dark chocolate mousse, chocolate agar, chocolate crunchy pearls, dark chocolate ganache, and chocolate sable Breton; and a Wild Raspberry-Lemon Log Cake with a fruity rush of wild raspberry mousse with fresh raspberries, lemon crème and almond sponge cake.

Back for a return engagement is Sweetspot's piece de resistance: a chocolate Christmas tree made entirely with candied almonds, chocolate stars, rock sugar 'snow' and chocolate ornaments. SweetSpot is located at Tower 3 of the hotel.

Over at The Shoppes, both Au Chocolat and High Society dish out holiday creations of their own: try Au Chocolat's S$108 gingerbread house with assorted candies; or go for High Society's S$78 Christmas take-home special, which includes a chocolate log cake, Christmas cookies, macaroons, and mixed fruit cakes soaked in rum.

Christmas Dinner at Rise Restaurant. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Rise Restaurant will offer special lunch and dinner menus that include traditional favorites like Roasted Turkey and Honey Baked Ham. The international buffet features familiar favorites from around the world, like Traditional Mince Pie originating from the UK and Slow Roasted Beef Wellington native to New Zealand.

Lunch on Christmas Eve is priced at S$68++ per person. Dinner on Christmas Eve as well as lunch and dinner on Christmas Day are each priced at S$108++

New Set Menus and Special Dishes from Marina Bay Sands' Celebrity Chef Restaurants. The Marina Bay Sands hosts a number of celebrity chef restaurants, and the big bosses aren't letting the Christmas season go by without a few surprises of their own.

  • db Bistro Moderne: The French-American bistro sets out an a la carte Christmas menu with Goose Foie Gras Terrine and Frog Leg Duo, concluding with a dessert choice of either Classic Yule Log, or the frozen version made with Jivara sherbet, pear sorbet and chocolate biscuit.   • Osteria Mozza offers a hearty holiday favorite of its own: pumpkin pie, alongside the Zuppa di Pesce with wild snapper, red prawns, littleneck clams, black mussels and squid. Afterward, order Chef Ariana Flores' Pumpkin Date Torte with walnut biscotti and bourbon gelato.
  • Pizzeria Mozza serves a series of Christmas-themed drinks: a steaming mug of Hot Chocolate with toasted marshmallow and spiced animal biscotti; and a Five Spice Cable Car cocktail that combines house-spiced aged rum, Cointreau, hand pressed lemon juice and a traditional Chinese five-spice sugared rim.
  • Sky on 57: Come Christmas eve, Chef Justin Quek serves up a luxurious S$288++ set menu that includes a Diver scallop, Hiroshima oyster, Kagoshima Wagyu Beef and French guinea fowl, complete with a glass of bubbly. Christmas brunch will also be available from 23-25 December 2012 at S$88++.

Casual Christmas at Bazin: the waterfront promenade restaurant and bar offers a S$65++ Christmas lunch or dinner menu, or S$99++ with two glasses of Piper Heidsieck champagne from November 15 to December 25.

Simply Italian at Caffe B: Authentic Italian fine dining restaurant Caffe B presents a S$165++ six-course Christmas menu with its signature dish: Salmon Filet plated on green and white asparagus, drizzled with lemon butter sauce, accompanied by potato crust and zucchini cake.

The theaters at Marina Bay Sands have lined up a few shows to keep you excited throughout the festive season. Start with worldwide smash hit musical, Jersey Boys, which premiered at the Sands Theater on November 20 and will continue to run for another 14 weeks, then proceed to the family-friendly Santa Claus: The Musical which will run at the Grand Theater from December 13 to 30.

Over at the ArtScience Museum, Outside In: A Magnum Photos Showcase features the finest visual work from Magnum Photos. It runs until January 6, 2013. And the Art of the Brick, named one of CNN's 12 Must-see Exhibitions, showcases intricate sculptures made from LEGO bricks. This runs until April 14.
