To hear ArchDaily.com put it, the new PARKROYAL on Pickering hotel in Singapore (compare rates) revolutionizes the art of integrating greenery into an urban high-rise. The new hotel shows an ability to not only "conserve greenery in a built-up high-rise city center, but multiply it vertically in a manner that is architecturally striking, integrated and sustainable," the architectural news website announces.

Starting today, travelers to Singapore now have the opportunity to see the PARKROYAL's stunning hotel-in-a-garden design concept for themselves, as the PARKROYAL on Pickering opens its doors on Wednesday, January 16.

Visitors will find ArchDaily.com's praise richly deserved: the PARKROYAL on Pickering features over 16,000 square feet of lush four-storey tall sky-gardens, punctuated by reflecting pools, waterfalls, planter terraces and cascading vertical greenery. The "gardens" cover a space twice as large as the hotel's land area.

Natural rooms. The sky gardens can be viewed from some of the hotel's 367 guestrooms and suites, along with spectacular views of the city. The rooms are enveloped in a soothing palette of calm greens and natural wood, highlighted with natural illumination. All rooms feature complimentary hi-speed Internet connectivity, in-room amenities, and a well-stocked executive bar.

Particular room categories come with Nespresso coffee machines, rain showers, bathtubs and designer ergonomic chairs.

Dining & entertainment. The PARKROYAL's high-concept approach carries over to their other amenities, too. Lime, the hotel's open-kitchen concept, all-day dining restaurant, serves Asian flavors and contemporary international favorites in a lively theatrical manner. The restaurant contains a street-level bar serving an assortment of wines, classic cocktails, and tapas dishes.

High above the street, the hotel's exclusive Orchid Club Lounge at the PARKROYAL's top level commands 360-degree views of Singapore's skyline. Guests staying at the Club Floors at the uppermost reaches enjoy access to private meeting spaces and dedicated Club Concierge service, along with privileges like a champagne breakfast, evening cocktails and canapés, all-day refreshments, and priority check-in and check-out service.

Spa & ballroom. Set next to a manicured garden space and covering the whole fifth floor, the PARKROYAL's fitness and recreational facilities include an infinity pool overlooking the city, a jacuzzi, a fitness center, an outdoor terrace, and a 300-meter garden walk.

Around the pool, birdcage-shaped cabanas provide comfortable spaces for relaxation. (See image above.)  The award-winning St. Gregory spa (to be launched in March) offers a wide range of body and beauty treatments, as well as signature spa therapies.

The meeting and events spaces in the hotel allow flexible configurations for up to 800 guests.  The PARKROYAL's pillarless William Pickering ballroom comes with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, bathing the space with natural light.

Location. The 16-storey PARKROYAL on Pickering stands at the junction of Singapore's Central Business District and Chinatown. The entertainment and waterfront dining areas along Singapore River and vibrant nightspots at Clarke Quay and Boat Quay are mere minutes away on foot, and the island's various modes of public transport are similarly accessible from the hotel.

Green cred. The hotel's designers - award-winning local architectural firm WOHA - have built in a number of green features into the hotel, including solar-powered sky-gardens; use of automatic light, rain and motion sensors; and use of rain harvesting and recycled water. To accentuate the hotel's closeness to nature, the design is embedded with natural materials and textures like light and dark wood, pebbles, water, and glass.

These design features have won the PARKROYAL on Pickering the BCA (Building and Construction Authority) Green Mark Platinum, the highest rating for green buildings in Singapore. The PARKROYAL also won the Solar Pioneer Award, as one of the first hotels in Singapore to use a solar energy system.

"Our team of knowledgeable and passionate associates is excited to build upon the green architectural foundations of PARKROYAL on Pickering, to promote sustainable hotel operations and management practices in Singapore," General Manager David Sullivan explains. "At the same time, we aim to provide the distinctive PARKROYAL style of hospitality that delivers upon our brand promise of being 'Your Trusted Local Companion' to everyone who walks through our doors."

Guests who check into the PARKROYAL on Pickering can take advantage of an opening promotion: pay only SGD278++ for a Superior room, inclusive of daily breakfast for two persons. The promo is valid from now till March 31, 2013, and is available only by booking directly via singaporehotels.parkroyalhotels.com/pickering.
