Wat Pho, Thailand

Wat Pho contains hundreds of Buddha statues, but it's mainly known for its immense reclining Buddha: 46 meters long and 15 meters high; gold-plated body; feet and eyes of engraved mother-of-pearl.

The 20-acre complex is the largest and oldest Wat in Bangkok. Today, it's known as the undisputed center for traditional Thai massage. You can get a traditional massage for about 150B, or a foot reflexology massage for 250B.

The Wat Pho complex actually consists of two compounds, divided by the Soi Chetuphon road. The southern compound contains a Buddhist monastery and a school. The northern compound houses the reclining Buddha and the massage school, and is usually all a casual visitor sees of the complex.
