Central Location In Boracay
What we got with Fat Jimmy's was far more than that: not only was it perfectly affordable, it had a really good location. With DMall practically next door, you've got easy access to the grocery, the stores, the wet market, and the restaurants (both cheap and expensive). Fat Jimmys is near the main road, and it's a 3 to 5 minute walk to the beach.
Fat Jimmy's is right smack in the middle of everything. It is located in the back area of D' Mall in Boracay, near the grocery store and a wet market. Since it's at the rear of D' Mall, it's a 10-second walk away from the main road. So if you're feeling lazy, you can hail a tricycle to take you around Boracay. If you want to hit the beach, it's around a 3 to 5 minute walk away from the beachfront. Not bad at all!
The only thing is if you're going home late at night, you'll have to pass through the wet market area to get back to Fat Jimmy's. It can get a bit dark in these areas; for some people, this can be a wee bit scary. But Filipinos are generally friendly. As long as you don't start anything crazy, you'll be safe.
Since all the boats from Caticlan stop at a single pier nowadays, you'd have to take a tricycle to the resort you're staying at. All you have to do is pay the fare and tell the tricycle where you need to go and you're there. (We did have to call Fat Jimmy's and ask for a landmark, where the tricycle could drop us off)
Basement Budget Rooming Options

The rooms are not bad at all. I mean, you shouldn't expect five star accomodations, but if you're just looking for a modest room with airconditioning, Fat Jimmy's certainly delivers.
Fat Jimmys offers a variety of rooms: cheaper fan cooled rooms that can fit 3 people, Standard rooms with aircon that can fit a maximum of 5 people, and Superior rooms that can fit a maximum of 6 people. Every type has a private toilet with a hot shower.
We chose to stay in a Standard room, and it was very comfortable. Of course we maxed out the number of people who can fit in the room. But all five of us were able to get a good night's sleep.
Homey Fare
Unfortunately our room didn't have a room fridge. The beds were very simple, nothing fancy about them. No room service, as far as we know. But they do have laundry & pressing service, cooking service, and free WI-FI.
Because of its closeness to the wet market, Fat Jimmy's staff can cook up special meals for you; all you have to do is buy stuff from the wet market and have them cook it up for you. If you want to save money, this is actually cheaper than going out and eating.
We usually just had the free breakfast in Fat Jimmy's. We did have them cook us a lunch from the stuff we bought at the wet market. This was going to be our food at the beach, a little picnic. The food was pretty good: it was sinigang na maya-maya (stewed fish) and rice.
When our visit was over, the total bill was the best surprise of all turns out that if you're travelling in groups, Fat Jimmy's is a goldmine. For the room that we stayed in, we spent around P2750 (US$65) a night. That's P2750.00 divided by 5 people. That's thirteen dollars per person a night!
