Hindu devotees commemorate the victory of Lord Subramaniam by carrying kavadis supported by skewers through their skin. Any devotee who undergoes this ritual, it is believed, will have their wishes granted.

The devotees form a procession from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple at Serangoon Road in Singapore’s Little India, proceeding to the Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple at Keong Saik Road.
