The Marina Bay area of Singapore hosts the annual Singapore Grand Prix, a major event in the FIA Formula One World Championship and the only one (so far) held at night.
The circuit is 3.14 miles in length – the circuit’s 61 laps add up to an overall race length of 192 miles. The circuit has 14 left-hand turns and 10-right hand turns, with overtaking opportunities at the Raffles Boulevard turn and the Esplanade Drive turn.
The race track is lit by 1,600 light projectors creating 3,000 lux of illumination – by comparison, football stadiums only need a fourth of the light the night race will require.
Formula One drivers race through some of Singapore's most significant tourist destinations along the way.
