Phuket is famous for its beaches. This Thai island province sits at the rim of the Andaman Sea, which offers a perfect setting for swimmers, divers, and watersports enthusiasts.
With so many beaches to choose from, most of the best are crowded with tourists. The most popular beaches also have a very well-established tourism industry: vendors roam the beaches selling sunblock, sunshades, drinks, and ice cream, beachfront massage stands sell their services within sight of the sea, and restaurants serve patrons just off the beach.
Secluded beaches are not unknown, though, and the most determined loners can find a deserted beach to commune with if they know where to look.
